Working Mother Magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC 2007 Best Law Firms for Women. Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers LLC recognized Dickstein Shapiro in August 2007 as one of the “Best Law Firm’s for Women.” This prestigious list honors 50 firms that have a demonstrated commitment to the retention and advancement of women in the legal industry.

The American Lawyer’s 2007 Midlevel Associate Satisfaction Survey. In The American Lawyer’s Associates Survey, released in August 2007, Dickstein Shapiro is ranked the number one firm overall, as well as the number one firm in both Washington, D.C.and New York City. The annual Associates Survey is based on 12 areas of job satisfaction, and midlevel associates nationwide are surveyed on topics such as relations with partners, the interest and satisfaction of the work, training and guidance, and the openness of management.

Multicultural Law Magazine’s Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity. In May 2007, Dickstein Shapiro was named one of the Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity by Multicultural Law magazine.

The American Lawyer’s Summer Associates Survey. In The American Lawyer’s Summer Associates Survey, released in November 2006, Dickstein Shapiro is ranked the number six law firm nationally (out of 172 firms), the number two firm in Washington, DC, and the number eleven firm in New York City. The American Lawyer credits Dickstein Shapiro’s high ranking on the Summer Associates Survey to the Firm’s midlevel associate satisfaction. The survey ranks firms on nine areas of job satisfaction, including the difficulty and interest level of the work, the amount of interaction with partners, and the overall impressions of the firm.

The American Lawyer’s Associates Survey. In The American Lawyer’s Associates Survey, released in August 2006, Dickstein Shapiro is ranked the number three firm nationally, and the New York office is ranked the number one office in the city. The annual Associates Survey is based on 12 areas of job satisfaction, and midlevel associates nationwide are surveyed on topics such as relations with partners, the interest and satisfaction of the work, training and guidance, and the openness of management. In 2005, the Firm was ranked fifth overall, and was first among AmLaw 200 firms.

Lawdragon’s Leading Lawyers. In August 2006, 22 Dickstein Shapiro attorneys were selected as “Leading Lawyers” by Lawdragon magazine. This elite list represents less than one percent of the legal profession, and is determined based on a combination of independent research and peer reviews.

The American Lawyer’s “A-List.” Dickstein Shapiro was ranked the number ten law firm in the country by The American Lawyer in its 2006 “A-List,” which also ranked the Firm as the top DC-based law firm. The American Lawyer cites the Firm’s high-profile case wins, commitment to diversity and pro bono initiatives, and happy associates (Dickstein Shapiro had the highest associate satisfaction score nationwide) as the impetus behind Dickstein Shapiro’s prominent placement on the “A-List.”

Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s Thomas L. Sager Award. In June 2006, Dickstein Shapiro was presented with the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s (MCCA) Thomas L. Sager Award for the Mid-Atlantic region, based on its significant accomplishments in and solid commitment to diversity. The MCCA honored Dickstein Shapiro as the top law firm in the Mid-Atlantic Region alongside three global corporations at its regional awards ceremony, and said the Firm “is a living commitment to diversity in a way that all of us can learn from.” Dickstein Shapiro’s top-notch legal service combined with its philosophy to embrace diversity secured the Firm’s place as one of the five most highly regarded law firms in the country.

The Washington Lawyers’ Committee Vincent E. Reed Award. In June 2006, Dickstein Shapiro was presented with the Vincent E. Reed Award by The Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs for its ongoing work with the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. The award recognizes the Firm’s pro bono services and its commitment to public education.

50 “Best Places to Work in Greater Washington.” In May 2006, Dickstein Shapiro was recognized by the Washington Business Journal as one of the 50 “Best Places to Work in Greater Washington.” Dickstein Shapiro was the highest-ranked law firm in its category, Large Companies With Local Headquarters.

Great Places to Work - 6 Best Law Firms. In the October 2005 issue of Washingtonian magazine, Dickstein Shapiro was ranked among the six best law firms in the Washington, DC metro area at which to work. The Firm also was listed in the 2003, 2001, and 1999 “Great Places to Work” surveys.

The American Lawyer’s Associates Survey. In the October 2005 issue of The American Lawyer, Dickstein Shapiro is ranked 5th overall and 1st among the AmLaw 200, AmLaw Global 100, and Washington, DC law firms and 13th among New York law firms. The results are based on surveys completed anonymously by midlevel associates examining 12 areas that contribute to job satisfaction. In addition, the October issue includes a feature article about our Firm, titled “Happy Hour.”

50 “Best Places to Work in Greater Washington.” In the June 2005 issue of Washington Business Journal, Dickstein Shapiro will be recognized as one of the 50 “Best Places to Work in Greater Washington.” The Washington Business Journal received more than 230 nominations from highly regarded companies for this survey.

Who Represents Corporate America. The Firm is mentioned in the October 2004 Corporate Counsel and National Law Journal “Who Represents Corporate America” surveys for its representation of six Fortune 250 companies: Fannie Mae, Tyson Foods, Inc., Duke Energy Corporation, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Consolidated Edison, Inc., and Constellation Energy Group, Inc.

Leading Lawyers for Business. In the 2004 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, Dickstein Shapiro was mentioned as a leader in the Bankruptcy, Energy, and Insurance Coverage Practices. In addition, four of Dickstein Shapiro’s partners were listed as Leading Lawyers - Larry Eisenstat (Energy), Daniel Litt (Bankruptcy), Jerry Oshinsky (Insurance Coverage), and Mark Perlis (Energy).

Top Lawyers. In the November 2004 issue of the Washingtonian, five Dickstein Shapiro attorneys were listed as leaders in their respective practice areas: Kenneth Adams, Michael Green, John Kotelly, Peter Jost, and Howard Schiffman.

Judicial Pro Bono Recognition Breakfast. Dickstein Shapiro was one of only 12 law firms in Washington, DC invited to attend the prestigious “40 at 50” Judicial Pro Bono Recognition Breakfast, which included only those law firms which had at least 40% of all attorneys performing a minimum of 50 hours of pro bono legal services work.

Great Places to Work - 6 Best Law Firms. In the November 2003 issue of Washingtonian Magazine, Dickstein Shapiro was ranked among the best six law firms at which to work. The Firm was also listed in the 2001 and 1999 “Great Places to Work” surveys.

The Best of the Law Firm Leaders List. Dickstein Shapiro’s former Managing Partner Angelo Arcadipane was honored in October 2002 on Of Counsel’s “The Best of the Law Firm Leaders” list, which honored only 27 law firm managing partners nationwide.

The National Association of Women Lawyers President’s (NAWL) Award. At the Annual NAWL Installation and Awards Luncheon in Washington, DC on August 10, 2002, Dickstein Shapiro was presented with the President’s Award to recognize the Firm’s strong record of support for the advancement of women in the law.

Bread for the City’s 2002 Volunteer of the Year Award. The award was presented for an attorney’s outstanding work with Bread for the City’s legal clinic, now named the Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky Legal Clinic.

The Bar Association of the District of Columbia’s Constance L. Belfiore Quality of Life Award. The award is presented annually by the Bar Association in furtherance of its belief “that quality of life is an important issue which, if fostered, will produce more loyal, productive, and market competitive lawyers and staff.” The award was presented to the Firm at the Bar Association of the District of Columbia’s 128th Annual Banquet on December 4, 1999.
